Founded in 1937, Zep specialized in industrial and janitorial chemicals, building its brand on proprietary formulations and hands-on service.

Over time, the company expanded its product portfolio through acquisitions, adding specialty chemicals, maintenance solutions, and later entering the retail market with home cleaning products, pesticides, and pet care. This led to the development of the Zep Commercial product line.

After becoming independent in 2007, Zep continued broadening its offerings into areas like vehicle care, industrial maintenance, and food & beverage sanitation.
